Description de la fonction

As a Senior Category Manager, you will lead the strategy, performance, and long-term growth of a major FMCG category. You will manage a small, high-performing team and work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to optimize category performance. This role requires strong analytical ability, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and deep knowledge of the FMCG environment.

You will play a critical role in pricing, revenue management, and trade marketing, ensuring the category delivers profitable and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Management

  • Define and execute the long-term category strategy for a large, complex FMCG category.
  • Lead category performance reviews, identifying growth opportunities and market dynamics.
  • Develop annual and quarterly planning for the category, aligning with commercial objectives.
  • Analyze consumer insights, retail data, and market trends to guide decision-making.



Team Leadership

  • Manage, coach, and develop a small team of category and/or trade marketing specialists.
  • Set clear goals, provide ongoing feedback, and foster a collaborative, growth-focused environment.
  • Support team development through training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.



Pricing & Revenue Management

  • Lead pricing strategy and annual pricing reviews for the category.
  • Optimize promotional strategy and calendar in collaboration with Sales and Finance.
  • Identify revenue growth opportunities, manage price architecture, and ensure healthy margins.
  • Monitor competitive pricing and market evolution.



Trade Marketing & Activation

  • Develop the annual trade marketing plan for the category.
  • Coordinate in-store activations, POS materials, and promotional campaigns.
  • Work closely with brand marketing to ensure consistent, impactful execution across retailers.
  • Measure campaign effectiveness and recommend improvements.



Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales teams to support key account plans and category development.
  • Work with Supply Chain to ensure accurate forecasting and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with Finance to align on P&L performance and ROI analyses.

Profil

  • Minimum 5-7 years of FMCG experience in category management, trade marketing, pricing, or commercial roles.
  • Proven track record managing large, strategic categories.
  • Experience leading people or managing small teams is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced command of category & retail data tools.
  • Solid understanding of FMCG pricing, promotional mechanics, and revenue management levers.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, results-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
