Accounting Manager Accounts Payable in Brussels M/V/X

This role is for someone who wants to fully own Trade Payables in a complex, international organisation - not as a support function, but as a core engine of the finance operation. You will step into a visible role, combining hands-on accounting expertise with team leadership, in an environment that values reliability, clarity and continuous improvement.

Description de la fonction

You will be responsible for the end-to-end Accounts Payable process, ensuring payments run smoothly, invoices are correctly processed, and the team delivers with precision.

• Own and execute weekly payment runs for all trade payables
• Ensure all supplier invoices are correctly received, routed, booked and followed up
• Actively chase and resolve issues with internal stakeholders (missing invoices, booking delays, discrepancies)
• Perform and review bank, payables and AP reconciliations
• Act as the key finance contact for internal and external audits related to Trade Payables
• Maintain strong alignment between Trade Payables operations and AP accounting
• Explain, standardise and improve processes, ensuring clarity and consistency across teams

People leadership

• Lead and manage a team of 6, with varied seniority and experience
• Personally onboard and train 3 newcomers, ensuring fast ramp-up and autonomy
• Structure the work, set priorities and guarantee deadlines and quality
• Be a hands-on manager with strong technical credibility

Profil

You are an experienced accounting professional who loves structure, ownership and impact.

• Bachelor - Master degree in Finance / Accounting / Economics - or equivalent
• Min 8 years of relevant experience
• Has strong, hands-on experience in Trade Payables / Purchase-to-Pay (this is essential)
• Has already worked in-house in a structured accounting environment
• Brings proven people management experience and enjoys training and coaching
• Is technically solid and comfortable being the go-to expert
• Has experience with SAP, ideally S/4HANA
• Knows Belgian GAAP; IFRS exposure is a plus, not a requirement
• Communicates fluently in English; French and/or Dutch are strong assets
