This is a fully equipped phase 1 research center. With that of New Haven (US), it is one of two Phase 1 Pfizer research centers in the world, 2)Elsene, the Belgian headquarters, 3)Puurs, Pfizer's production and packaging site, and 4) Zaventem, the international Pfizer's Logistics Center.

JOB FOCUS To lead Global Customs Operations focused on implementing and maintaining Special Customs Procedures and Trusted Partner Programs (such as AEO and Trust & Check). This responsibility includes; providing conceptual and practical leadership and motivation to direct reports, successfully identifying opportunities for, obtaining licenses to operate and managing day-to-day implementation of Special Customs Procedures globally in the Global Logistics network. This is done through managing human and capital resources in the most efficient and effective manner, maintaining positive and cooperative relationships with key stakeholders. Regular presence in Manufacturing Sites may be required as part of stakeholder management. JOB SUMMARY - MAIN AREA'S OF RESPONSIBILITY / ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. People Management Motivate and lead a team in the execution of operation objectives Actively develop strong strong and positive relationships with counterparts and key stakeholders Assure the appropriate development and training of all (in)direct reports Model and promote an attitude that embraces and navigates change, and seek opportunities to use change as means to increase performance capabilities Model and promote Pfizer values, codes of conduct, vision and missions Encourage an atmosphere of 100% stakeholder satisfaction, where expectations are understood and managed to the expectations of the stakeholders Establish an overall talent development and succession plan for the operations Provide assistance and expertise to the team for adequate decision-making 2. Relation with Customs Authorities and dedicated brokers Responsible for maintaining a favorable image of the company vis-à-vis customs authorities by establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship between the regional customs operations and national customs officials Maintain regular contacts with national customs authorities to ensure that current customs authorizations are timely reviewed or adjusted in line with the business evolution 3. Supervision Activities Control, plan and supervise the daily customs operations related to Customs Special Procedures, executed by regional or local colleagues or outsourced partners Ensure import and export instructions are timely provided to dedicated brokers (preferably via EDI) Assist colleagues in resolving day-to-day technical issues Problem solving intervention for complex customs topics Follow-up of new customs regulations/programs and ensure that new regulations are implemented Ensure that customs formalities are accomplished in full compliance with national regulations Ensure that current customs authorizations are timely reviewed or adjusted in line with the business evolution 4. Compliance Oversee and manage litigations and align global approach with peers Act as Trade Compliance specialist Ensure implementation and execution of adequate controls on the processes managed Strive for obtaining Trusted Partner status towards Customs Authorities and ensure maintenance of existing Trusted Partner certifications Manage operational relationship with regional dedicated broker teams Work closely with Pfizer operational stakeholders ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness (Customer Fulfilment, GTS, Command Center, Quality, Finance, Tax, .) 5. Project Support & Continuous Improvement Drive continuous improvement in operations based on internal controls and litige findings Benchmark operations across the globe Identify and drive duty saving and compliance enhancement projects Actively participate in initiatives for GL Customs & Compliance scope extension Support of and participation in projects relevant to the team Seeking permanent improvement of work methods, by adhere IMEX, OPEX and Zero Defect methodology KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI) Staff well trained and skilled (Training Records) Workload well balanced in all areas Staff is managed within the context of Pfizer Vision & Mission, codes of conduct and value Compliance with Customs Regulations Compliance with GxP requirements Correct and timely taxes payments to legal authorities No remarks as a result of customs audits Willingness to create appropriate climate for open communication and team spirit Personal contribution to a better working environment Works according to relevant SOPs and WIs Completes all required training in due time
Profil
QUALIFICATIONS University Degree in Logistics or equivalent At least 10 years experience in Customs Legislation Fluent in English and Dutch (mandatory), very good knowledge other languages in the region are a benefit (verbal and written). Good knowledge of SAP GTS. Knowledge of Excel, Word, Powerpoint, .)
