Senior Data Engineer (GCP / Data platform)

About the opportunity

Our client is looking for a highly senior Data Engineer to strengthen its Data Platform team.
We are looking for someone capable of designing scalable cloud-native data solutions while mentoring engineers and driving best practices across the platform.

Your responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a central role in the design, evolution, and optimization of the company's cloud data platform.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Data platform & architecture:
  • Design and implement scalable Data Lake and Data Warehouse solutions on GCP
  • Define end-to-end technical flows using:
    • BigQuery
    • Dataform
    • Cloud Run
    • Pub/Sub
    • APIs
  • Support migration initiatives from legacy systems to modern cloud-native GCP environments
  • Design robust and scalable real-time data integration solutions
  • Ensure platform scalability, maintainability, and reliability
• Data engineering & governance:
  • Structure and historize data coming from multiple business domains
  • Ensure data is reliable, accessible, and easily consumable for:
    • Data Scientists
    • Reporting teams
    • Business stakeholders
  • Define and maintain best practices around:
    • Data Warehouse design
    • IAM & privacy
    • Data governance
    • Cloud architecture standards
  • Contribute to AI/ML deployment standards and platform evolution
• Leadership & collaboration:
  • Coach and mentor Data Engineers on complex technical challenges
  • Act as a senior technical reference point within the team
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders
  • Translate functional requirements into actionable technical solutions and work packages
  • Promote engineering best practices and help raise the overall maturity level of the platform team
• FinOps & optimization:
  • Optimize GCP resource usage and cloud costs
  • Contribute to performance improvements and operational efficiency initiatives

Ideal profile

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or similar roles
• Strong expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Solid experience within Data Warehouse environments
• Proven experience on legacy-to-cloud migration projects
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and scalable data platforms
• Good knowledge of real-time integration patterns and API-based architectures
• Exposure to AI-related initiatives is considered a strong plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Comfortable working in a highly autonomous and senior environment
• Fluent English required + French or Dutch
