HappeningIT is looking for a hands-on Data Manager & Data Engineer (Expert level) to join a strategic digital transformation program within a public sector organization. The program focuses on document digitization, process modernization, and building a data-driven ecosystem using Azure Cloud Dataplatformen.
You will work in a complex, multi-actor environment, with responsibility for both data engineering and data management activities, across both on-premise and cloud systems.

Role & responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you will:

• Design and implement data pipelines (batch and real-time)
  
• Migrate data from on-premise systems to Azure Cloud Dataplatformen
  
• Set up secure, scalable data integration and data Storage architectures
  
• Ensure robust data transformation and integration processes
  
• Support the collection and processing of structured and unstructured data
  
• Build solutions for data access, including APIs and secure endpoints
  
• Develop reports and dashboards using Power BI and SAP BO
  
• Apply data security policies and participate in access control implementations
  
• Support predictive and prescriptive analytics use cases
  

As a Data manager, you will:

• Define and maintain a business glossary and data dictionary
  
• Implement frameworks for master data and metadata management
  
• Lead efforts in data governance and ensure data quality across domains
  
• Collaborate with business units to align on data definitions and usage
  
• Contribute to building a data-driven culture across the organization
  
• Provide recommendations on data policies, standards, and lifecycle management
  
• Help define KPIs and structure data for analytical and operational reporting
  
• Act as liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders

Additional information

• Workplace: Brussels (near major train station)
  
• On-site requirement: 3 days/week minimum
  
• Contract: Fixed-term, renewable upon positive evaluation
  
• Only hands-on profiles will be considered — no consultants or project managers.
