API / SOA ARCHITECT
NTT DATA is looking for an API / SOA Architect
Location: Belgium (Fully Remote Possible)
Contract Type: Freelance or Permanent
Languages

• Professional working proficiency in Dutch and/or French (mandatory)

About the Role
NTT DATA is looking for an experienced API / SOA Architect to help design and drive enterprise integration and API strategies within complex and large-scale environments.
As API / SOA Architect, you will define architecture standards, API governance frameworks, security principles, and integration roadmaps that support digital transformation and enterprise interoperability.
We welcome Junior, Medior, and Senior professionals who have experience in API management, integration architecture, cloud-native technologies, and modern service-oriented architectures.
Key Responsibilities

• Define API and SOA architecture strategies and standards
• Design REST, SOAP and Microservices-based integration solutions
• Define API governance and lifecycle management frameworks
• Establish security standards using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT and related protocols
• Lead architecture reviews and technical design workshops
• Collaborate with business, development, DevOps, infrastructure and security teams
• Drive DevSecOps, CI/CD and automation initiatives
• Design scalable and reusable enterprise integration patterns
• Produce architecture documentation, guidelines and recommendations
• Support API platform adoption and continuous improvement

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Higher education degree or equivalent experience
• Junior (>1 year), Medior (>3 years), or Senior (>10 years) experience
• Strong understanding of API Architecture and SOA principles
• Experience with REST and SOAP services
• Knowledge of OpenAPI, Swagger, YAML, OAuth2, OIDC, JWT and JWK
• Experience with API Management Platforms such as Apigee, Axway, WSO2, Red Hat Fuse or similar
• Strong understanding of Java Enterprise environments
• Knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns and SOA Design Patterns
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies
• Experience with testing methodologies, DevOps and CI/CD
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
• Experience with source control and collaboration tools including Git, Jira and Confluence

Technology Environment
Java EE, Spring Boot, Quarkus, Apache CXF, Docker, OpenShift, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Jenkins, Maven, Git, Snyk, SonarQube, Neo4J, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, OpenAPI and Swagger.
