API Manager Developer (Axway)
Location: Belgium (Fully Remote Possible)
Contract Type: Freelance or Permanent

About the Role
We are looking for an API Manager Developer to develop and maintain enterprise API management solutions and support the delivery of secure, scalable and high-performing integration platforms.
You will work closely with Solution Architects, Infrastructure Engineers, Developers and business stakeholders to build API gateway solutions, implement integration standards and contribute to the successful delivery of enterprise API initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain API Gateway solutions
• Build API services using Axway, Apigee, WSO2 API Manager, Red Hat Fuse or similar platforms
• Implement secure API solutions using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT and JWK
• Develop REST and SOAP-based web services
• Apply API, SOA and Enterprise Integration principles in solution development
• Support the complete application lifecycle from design through development, testing, deployment, release and production support
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on secure deployment pipelines and cloud environments
• Produce high-quality technical documentation
• Support testing, validation and troubleshooting activities
• Participate in Agile delivery teams and contribute to continuous improvement
• Ensure compliance with API governance, security and development best practices

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Higher education degree or equivalent professional experience
• Professional experience as an API Developer, API Manager Developer or similar role
• Experience with API Gateway development
• Experience with Axway or similar API management platforms (Apigee, WSO2 API Manager, Red Hat Fuse)
• Strong knowledge of REST, SOAP, WSDL and Web Services standards
• Experience with OpenAPI, Swagger and YAML
• Strong understanding of API and SOA principles, including microservices architectures
• Experience implementing API security using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, JWK and PKI
• Understanding of SOA Design Patterns, Enterprise Integration Patterns and event-driven architectures
• Experience with XML, JSON, XSD, XPath, XQuery and XSLT
• Knowledge of testing methodologies and API testing tools
• Experience with Git source control and secure CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
• Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
• Experience using Jira and Confluence
• Experience working with public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
• Professional proficiency in English or one of the Belgian national languages (French or Dutch)
