Robert Half Talent Solutions is currently looking for a Legal Counsel (m/f/x) for a permanent position based in Brussels.
Our client is an international leading insurance group serving both retail and business customers through insurance (life and non-life) and reinsurance activities.
The Group Corporate Legal team, based in Brussels, acts as a center of expertise and governance, supporting the Corporate Centre and the Group's entities on a broad range of legal matters, including corporate law, litigation, regulatory affairs, listed-company matters, ESG, reinsurance, contract law and legal operations.
What you'll do :
As a Legal Counsel - Corporate Legal & Legal Operations (m/f/x), you will combine high-level legal advisory work with a strategic role in the continued development and transformation of the legal function. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation and contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and impact of legal services throughout the Group.
Corporate Legal :
- Provide practical, business-oriented and risk-based legal advice to Corporate Centre functions on a broad range of legal matters.
- Monitor and analyse legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the Group's activities and strategic objectives.
- Support the implementation of new legal and regulatory requirements through cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Review and advise on internal policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial and strategic agreements, including complex intra-group arrangements.
- Follow up on litigation and pre-litigation matters in collaboration with external counsel.
- Advise on intellectual property matters and contribute to the protection and management of the Group's assets.
Legal Operations & Technology :
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and optimise legal service delivery across the Group.
- Promote innovation, continuous improvement and the responsible use of technology within the legal function.
- Support the adoption and implementation of legal technology solutions, including AI-enabled tools.
- Manage relationships with external legal service providers and legal technology vendors, including procurement processes, contract negotiations, budget monitoring and performance assessment.
- Contribute to Group-wide legal operations initiatives, governance forums and cross-functional projects.
Who you are :
- Master's degree in Law from a Belgian university.
- Minimum 5 years of experience gained within a leading law firm and/or the legal department of a large organisation.
- Experience in the financial services, insurance or listed-company environment is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial and regulatory law.
- Genuine interest in legal operations, legal technology, AI and the evolution of in-house legal functions.
- Professional working proficiency in English and either French or Dutch.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with a pragmatic business mindset.
- Curious, proactive and eager to drive change and improvement.
- Collaborative team player with excellent stakeholder management skills.
