Description de la fonction

About the role

Fintensy builds and operates the technology platform behind mozzeno and other financial services. As we scale, we're looking for a Head of IT to grow our engineering team, sharpen how we work, and make sure our technology delivers on the business's ambitions.

This is a leadership role first and foremost. You will spend your time developing people, aligning ways of working, leading our technical initiatives, and giving stakeholders clear visibility into what the team is building and where it is headed. A solid technical understanding matters, but your impact will come through coaching, collaboration, and delivery rather than hands-on implementation.

Key responsibilities

  • Team leadership & coaching - Provide mentorship and day-to-day support to developers and data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning. Help senior engineers grow junior colleagues and keep knowledge flowing across the team.
  • Technical project leadership - Lead the delivery of technical projects end to end - infrastructure, platform, security, tooling and cross-cutting engineering initiatives - from scoping through rollout. Business-driven projects are owned by Product Owners; you partner closely with them while taking the lead on the technical roadmap and its execution.
  • Recruitment & onboarding - Lead hiring for developers, infrastructure engineers, and data & AI specialists. Design and oversee onboarding that integrates new hires quickly and effectively into the team and its practices.
  • Process refinement - Work with Product Owners to shape and fine-tune agile practices (backlog management, sprint planning, retrospectives) that maximise productivity and keep focus on strategic priorities. Continuously trial new techniques - such as AI-assisted coding and process automation - to raise efficiency and quality.
  • Visibility & communication - Ensure transparent reporting of achievements, roadmaps and risks to stakeholders. Run regular updates on progress, risks and resource needs, and build a shared understanding of priorities across engineering, product and business.
  • Collaboration & facilitation - Act as the bridge between developers, Product Owners, data scientists and external partners. Facilitate discussions on requirements and dependencies so projects run smoothly and teams stay aligned.
  • Technical oversight - Keep enough depth in our stack (AWS, .NET, Angular, Python, event-driven micro-services) to contribute to architectural discussions and understand the challenges your team faces. Champion security best practices and infrastructure improvements, while delegating implementation to subject-matter experts.
  • Culture & growth - Foster an environment where engineers feel accountable and empowered to take ownership. Encourage curiosity and a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset, and promote AI and emerging tools that streamline work and sharpen the team's skills.

Profil

  • Experience managing engineering or cross-functional teams, with a track record of coaching people and growing their skills.
  • A record of leading technical projects or initiatives through to delivery.
  • Proven ability to design and refine agile or lean processes that improve delivery effectiveness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable presenting plans, progress and blockers to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple initiatives without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Comfortable introducing new tools and techniques (e.g., AI-assisted development) and measuring their impact.
  • Enough technical literacy in cloud infrastructure, web technologies and DevOps pipelines to understand team challenges and shape high-level decisions.
  • Fluency in French or Dutch alongside professional English.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in fintech or other regulated environments.
  • Experience working with near-shore or hybrid teams.

Compétences linguistiques

  • Anglais (atout)

    • Comprendre : Indépendant - (B1)

Avantages du poste

  • Opportunity to be part of a great and extremely motivating start-up adventure.
  • A pleasant working environment, conveniently located outside Brussels and easily accessible by car, avoiding the usual traffic.
  • A company culture valuing empowerment and bringing career development perspectives.
  • Competitive salary package related to your profile and experience.
