About the opportunity

For one of our clients, we are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join an innovative company at the intersection of Data, AI and Financial Technology.
This is not a traditional enterprise environment. You'll be joining a company with a genuine start-up mindset where ownership, initiative and collaboration are highly valued. You'll have the opportunity to help shape the data platform that powers next-generation AI solutions, working alongside a passionate team that enjoys solving complex challenges.
If you're looking for a project where you can make a real impact instead of simply maintaining existing systems, this could be the right fit.

Your responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and developing the data platform that supports advanced analytics and AI initiatives.
Your responsibilities include:
  • Designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
  • Integrating data from a wide variety of internal and external sources.
  • Developing reliable data processing workflows for analytics and AI use cases.
  • Improving data quality, performance and reliability across the platform.
  • Supporting the deployment of AI solutions into production environments.
  • Working closely with software engineers, AI specialists and business stakeholders.
  • Contributing to data governance, security and compliance best practices.
  • Continuously improving the overall data architecture and engineering standards.

Your profile

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a proactive, hands-on attitude.
Ideally, you have:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Strong experience with Python and SQL.
  • Experience designing and implementing data integration solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Solid knowledge of modern data architectures, including Data Lakes and Data Warehouses.
  • Affinity with AI, Machine Learning or modern data-driven applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • A pragmatic mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.

What you'll find

  • An exciting freelance assignment with real impact.
  • A modern technology stack focused on Data and AI.
  • A collaborative team where your ideas matter.
  • A dynamic environment with a true start-up culture.
  • The opportunity to help build innovative products from the ground up.
  • Hybrid working model with 3 onsite days per week in the Leuven region (fixed requirement).
  • English-speaking working environment.
If you're an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys building scalable platforms, taking ownership and working in an ambitious environment where innovation is part of the daily mindset, we'd love to hear from you
