About the Role

 
We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a multidisciplinary Agile team within the Belgian healthcare sector.
In this role, you'll contribute to the development and maintenance of analytical data solutions that support healthcare policy, medical control and data-driven decision-making. You'll work closely with Technical Leads, Data Architects, Functional Analysts and Project Managers to design, build and maintain scalable data warehouses, data marts and reporting solutions using the Microsoft BI stack while supporting the organization's transition towards Azure Databricks.
Beyond strong technical expertise, we're looking for someone with a proactive mindset who enjoys collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders and takes ownership of delivering reliable, high-quality data solutions.
 

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise BI solutions, including data ingestion processes, data warehouses and data marts.
• Build scalable data integration solutions using the Microsoft BI stack and Azure Databricks.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes following established development standards and functional requirements.
• Design data warehouse solutions based on Kimball dimensional modelling principles.
• Develop reporting solutions using Power BI and SSRS.
• Test, troubleshoot and maintain analytical solutions while ensuring high standards of quality and performance.
• Produce clear technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct prototype reviews, demonstrations and user training on developed data models.
• Collaborate closely with Technical Leads, Data Architects, Functional Analysts and Project Managers to deliver solutions in an Agile environment.
• Support the organization's transition towards Azure Databricks and modern cloud-based data engineering practices.

Must-Have Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent through experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Strong experience with the Microsoft BI stack, including Visual Studio, SSIS, SSAS, SSMS, SSRS, Power BI and SQL Server.
• Strong experience designing and developing data warehouses and data marts.
• Experience with Kimball dimensional modelling.
• Strong SQL Server development experience.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Fluent in Dutch or French with a passive knowledge of the second national language.

Nice to Have

• Azure Databricks.
• Python.
• Experience supporting cloud data platform migrations.
• Experience working in enterprise or public sector environments.
