We are looking for a Buyer/Contract Manager to join a vital project with a key Belgian player in the energy sector. The Belgian and European energy landscapes are constantly evolving, and you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and sustainability of our country's electricity supply.

You will collaborate with a dedicated team to build a sustainable, green, and reliable energy infrastructure that fosters economic growth and reduces our ecological footprint. The purchasing team is responsible for the purchasing strategy, sourcing contracting projects, supplier management, and active contract management for both the Belgian entity and the German entity.

This primarily includes:

• Electrical works and civil engineering projects in high-voltage substations.

• Works on high-voltage lines.

• The realization of underground cable connections.

As a Buyer/Contract Manager, you will:

• Manage procurement files completely autonomously from request for proposal to award (selection, negotiation, etc.), holding a significant responsibility in the choice of contractor and the agreed contract terms.
• Demonstrate value at a tactical and strategic level by developing and executing a structured and (innovative) project procurement strategy.
• Invest in an in-depth understanding of the needs of the internal customer, market dynamics, challenges, and opportunities, with an eye for innovation and knowledge of technical content.
• Contribute to the product strategy and market analysis.
• Contribute to supplier management and the maintenance of positive long-term relationships with key contractors, focusing on risks, threats, and opportunities.
• Guide improvement initiatives with contractors where necessary.
• Be involved in the phase preceding the request for proposal for important projects.
• Lead multifunction teams (MFTs) or working groups in the field, focused on creating impact or co-creation for the future.
• Monitor projects in execution from a commercial contractual perspective. This includes following up and negotiating extra costs and ensuring contractual terms are met (quality, planning, safety, etc.). Site visits are necessary for this.
• Build bridges with suppliers to achieve our energy transition goals, in close cooperation with the Supplier Manager.
• Coordinate with counterparts at 50Hertz (Berlin, Germany) to share insights.
• Share your market and category knowledge when negotiating contractual terms.

Jouw profiel

• Education & Experience: You possess a Master's degree in a technical or commercial domain, or you have a technical-economic background gained through experience.
• You have a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional purchasing experience that demonstrates maturity, vision, and approach, driven by a critical mindset, autonomy, and ambition.
• Language Skills: You are fluent in Dutch/French/English.
• Location & Flexibility: Regular presence on site and travel within Belgium will be important. 2 days on-site are required.
