We have 2 small restaurants in Ixelles:

• one purely Thai restaurant
• another which is a more general Asian restaurant doing mostly Thai and Korean cuisine, with some Chinese and Japanese cuisine

Beschrijving van de functie

The role is that of a cook of Thai and Asian food.

For this reason, you MUST have:

• certification in Thai cooking
• minimum of 2 years experience in Thai cooking

Since we have two very small restaurants, and we do not have specialists for every task (e.g. assistant chef, washer upper, cleaner), your role would also include:

• all the preparation of food
• cleaning of the restaurant area including:
  o washing up dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils including pots, frying pans, woks
  o at the end of each evening cleaning the cooker, cooker hood, food preparation area
  o cleaning the floors and toilets
• reception and correct storage of goods (e.g. 20 kg rice sacks, crates of beer)

Working hours:

• this is a full-time (38 hours/week) job
• you will generally be expected to work every Saturday and Sunday
• the restaurants are open to customers as follows. You will typically be expected to work for 1 hour after the restaurant closes, either after the lunch time service (e.g. Thursday lunch time buffet), or more generally at the end of the day, subject
  of course to your 38 hours:
  • lunch time, 12:00-15:00
  • evening, 18:00-22:00
• the restaurants often open on national holidays, which you would usually be expected to work

The language used internally for all verbal and written communication is Thai. Additionally there will be communication in English. Therefore you MUST be fluent it Thai (C2) and almost fluent in English (C1).

Jouw profiel

• bachelor degree
• diploma in Thai cooking. Please note, that we are specifically looking for someone who has a diploma in Thai cooking. 
• at least 2 years of experience of Thai and Asian (Korean, Japanese, Chinese) food and cooking. 
• fluent in Thai language, and good knowledge of English language
• willingness to do whatever jobs are necessary, including:
  o food preparation
  o cooking
  o cleaning (washing up dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils including pots, frying pans, woks)
  o cleaning the cooker, cooker hood, food preparation area
  o cleaning the floors and toilets
• strong enough to move fairly heavy things (e.g. 20 kg rice sacks, crates of beer) up or down stairs
• willingness to work unsociable restaurant hours, including:
  o late at night
  o Saturday and Sunday
  o sometimes on holiday days
• we are looking for someone who is willing to be flexibile in the working timetable, due to the unpredictable nature of how
  busy the restaurants are
