Our client is a fast-growing and highly regulated company operating in the financial services infrastructure sector. Created a few years ago by major Belgian financial institutions, the organization is currently undergoing a significant scale-up phase and aims to become a key national player in its field.

With a strong focus on accessibility, efficiency, and innovation, the company is building a nationwide network of service points, ensuring coverage across Belgium. The organization operates in close collaboration with regulatory authorities and combines a corporate, structured environment with the agility of a scale-up.

The company employs around 30-35 people internally, supported by external partners, and is headquartered in Brussels.

Beschrijving van de functie

As a Solo Legal Counsel your responsibilities are:

• Providing pragmatic and business-oriented legal advice to senior stakeholders
• Acting as the legal representative of the company across all operations
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements
• Overseeing corporate governance and compliance matters
• Acting as legal risk gatekeeper, identifying and mitigating risks
• Managing disputes and litigation, in collaboration with external law firms
• Coordinating with and managing external legal counsel
• Ensuring accurate documentation and reporting of legal files
• Monitoring Belgian and EU regulatory developments and advising on their impact

Jouw profiel

A successful Solo Legal Counsel should have:

• Master's degree in Law (Belgium)
• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience (law firm and/or in-house)
• Strong expertise in corporate law, commercial contracts, and governance
• Experience in a regulated environment is a plus
• Ability to work in full autonomy in a solo legal role
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with C-level stakeholders and public institutions
• Languages:
  • Dutch: Fluent
  • English: Fluent
  • French: Professional level
