Our client, a leading Belgian organization operating in a key essential sector, is looking for a Mainframe Developer (COBOL) to strengthen its IT team. You will contribute to the development and evolution of strategic applications used both internally and by a wide network of partners.

You will join a stable, dynamic, and quality-driven environment where your technical expertise will directly contribute to the performance of the company's operations. This position is located in Brussels.

Beschrijving van de functie

As an Mainframe Developer (COBOL), you will be involved throughout the entire application lifecycle, including:

• Analyzing both functional and technical requirements
• Designing, developing, and maintaining existing applications
• Contributing to the evolution of platforms and the integration of new solutions
• Ensuring the quality, performance, and long-term maintainability of developments
• Producing the required technical documentation
• Identifying opportunities for improvement and proposing innovative solutions
• Collaborating closely with both business and technical teams
• Working across back-end development, application interfaces, and system integrations

You are able to work autonomously on a project, from the initial analysis phase through to deployment into production.

Jouw profiel

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience
• Experience with, or solid knowledge of, procedural programming, including:
  
  • C
  • COBOL
  • PL/I
• Knowledge of relational databases, including:
  
  • SQL
  • DB2
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Good command of French and/or Dutch, both written and spoken
• Good reading comprehension of technical English

Experience with or knowledge of the following technologies would be considered an asset:

• z/OS environment
• CICS
• JCL
• PL/I
• SOA / ESB
• TWS
• Web Services development
• Java
• Knowledge of accounting or financial principles
