Data Platform Software Engineer M/V/X

We're looking for a Senior Python Software Engineer to join one of the largest enterprise Data & AI platforms in Belgium.

This isn't a traditional Data Engineering role where you'll be building business data pipelines. Instead, you'll help develop the core platform, frameworks and developer tooling that enable hundreds of data engineers and data scientists to build scalable data and AI solutions.

You'll work on high-impact products used across multiple countries, contributing to the evolution of a cloud-native data platform running on AWS.

If you enjoy building reusable software, designing scalable frameworks and working on platform engineering challenges, this is an excellent opportunity.

• Design and develop reusable Python frameworks, libraries and platform services
• Build developer tooling, AI coding assistants, plugins and automation capabilities
• Design scalable software solutions for large-scale cloud environments
• Contribute to platform architecture and technical design decisions
• Develop capabilities around metadata, data lineage, GDPR compliance and data lifecycle management
• Improve developer experience by creating reusable components and best practices
• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams across the platform
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and continuously improve platform reliability
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering excellence

Jouw profiel

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering
• Strong Python development skills
• Excellent understanding of software architecture, design patterns and clean code principles
• Experience designing reusable frameworks or backend services
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to balance long-term architecture with short-term delivery
• Experience mentoring other developers is considered a plus
